Rebecca S1) I don't think that people are nualrtaly altruistic. Everyone does things for selfish reasons even if that reason is just feeling good about themselves. People respond to specific incentives in order to gain for themselves, or in order to feel good about something that they've done. For example, if you take decide to give someone who you don't know money, then both of you are really gaining something. The other person gains money, and you gain the satisfaction of knowing that you did something good. 2) The reason why someone chooses to do something positive for another person, doesn't matter as much as the act that is being done. If you choose to give someone money, it doesn't matter why you are doing it, what matters is the fact that the other person is benefiting. We can hope that everyone does things out of the kindness of our hearts and willingness to help others, but even if the reason is why not? the fact is that something positive is still being done.

When I was at primary ohcsol the boys were kept apart from the girls in a separate playground. I'm not suggesting this at our ohcsol and when I look back on it did seem rather strange, even then. I don't remember us boys doing anything other than just rush around or grub around in the playground dust. The girls did all the interesting games, skipping and rhyming games whilst throwing balls against the wall. At the end of break we all had to line up QUIETLY (hint hint!) and the headteacher would come and inspect our hands to make sure they were clean!!
